JOB SUMMARY

To support us in continuing to ensure Assisted Lives is an attractive, vibrant employer of choice in our area, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Medication Coordinator who will support our staff with everything under the medication banner in care.
The Medication Coordinator will maintain our company policies and procedures and work closely with the Senior Managers on all medication management issues, ensuring any medication related concerns are handled appropriately and in full compliance with our Medication policies and procedures and CQC’s regulation.
This is an exciting role. The care sector is heavily regulated, and medication management is critical for all service providers, so the role will be demanding. However, this is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative management team in developing and growing a company that values its staff and aims to deliver excellent quality of services to vulnerable adults and children.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the safe, effective, and compliant handling of client medication. Administering medication, record-keeping and managing medication storage.
- Support to create medication care plans and protocols.
- Support covert medication management following regulations and procedures.
- Work with Staff to maintain up-to-date and accurate care plans in respect to their Service User’s medications by supporting with queries and questions.
- Monitoring, updating and advising staff and managers Medication policies and procedures, ensuring they are adhered to and effectively communicated across the organisation.
- To be responsible for supporting the service to achieve the safe and appropriate management, administration and recording of medication, in accordance with Assisted Lives Policies and Procedures.
- Support staff to assess their Service User’s medication management process and ensure compliance with Assisted Lives Policies and Procedures, regulatory requirements and the needs of the Service User.
- Work with Staff to ensure safe practice and accuracy, openness and transparency at all times concerning the management of medication and in particular the management of medication audits.
- Carry out medication audits, support and train staff to carry out medication audits.
- Carry out medication competencies for support workers
- Supporting staff to ensure that all relevant professional standards are met.
- Provide staff training.
- Identify staff training needs in relation to medication.
- Regularly coaching, mentoring, and supporting colleagues to identify individual strengths and development needs.
- Work with staff to ensure that medication incidents are written clearly and concisely and that any remedial action or learning is incorporated into care delivery.
- Undertake training appropriate to the role, as agreed with Senior Management and ensure learning is shared and transferred into best practice.
- Act as a Medication Champion for Assisted Lives.
