Assisted Lives is highly experienced working with people who display challenging behaviour. This includes behaviours that might be seen as socially inappropriate or be perceived as aggressive. Challenging behaviours can be a barrier to someone engaging in social activities or gaining independence. Staff receive training in Positive Behaviour Support to enable us to take a least-resistive and person-centred approach to understand the specific reasons behind the challenging behaviour and people’s individual triggers, and then work with the person to create an individual behaviour management plan to reduce or avoid occurrences. Using this approach we have worked with many people to enable them to overcome or manage challenging behaviour so as to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
